Why I Created Balanced Posture Online

WHY I CREATED BALANCED POSTURE ONLINE blue and white favicon

I believe there is a gap in the health and fitness industry linking a healthy body  to one that is injured.  Just because you are injured, doesn’t mean you can’t train and remain active.  And just because you don’t have any current injuries or symptoms, doesn’t mean you aren’t at risk or that you are are invincible.   Everyone knows someone who has been injured by doing the simplest of tasks, such as stepping out of the car or putting on their jacket.  You don’t have to be a daredevil to get injured.  If we train our bodies to prevent future injuries, we will save ourselves a lot of time, money, pain and suffering.  I created Balanced Posture Online for this reason.  It reflects my training philosophy:

“IN 5-10 YEARS FROM NOW, I WANT YOU TO BE A BETTER VERSION OF YOURSELF TODAY”

I help people who are just getting started and those who want to improve their current training regime, whether they are avid runners, beginners at the gym, or more experienced weight lifters. Working in a gym setting for over 12 years has opened my eyes to a lot of the problems people face when trying to reach their fitness goals, with the main problems being injuries, chronic aches and pains, and the fear of getting hurt.  I realize it is inevitable that our bodies will go through ups and downs, and we are going to have some issues that may set us back.  Rather than being afraid, it is important to deal with these issues quickly, safely, and effectively.  Do you know how many times people say “I can’t do squats because my knees hurt”, so they just avoid doing squats?  This is ridiculous on so many levels! Why not find out why your knees hurt and try to improve them?  The issue will only get worse with age and cause bigger issues later on in life.  If your experiencing pain, then you need to sort it out.

PAIN IS YOUR BODY’S WAY OF COMMUNICATING WITH YOU, JUST LIKE WHEN A BABY CRIES, OR A DOG BARKS.

Many people don’t have the proper tools to help them understand their bodies and instead of asking for help, they go at it alone and end up making poor training and lifestyle choices.  Balanced Posture Online is here to help people manage their niggly bodies and to provide helpful tools to aid in their recovery (and pre-covery as I like to call it!).  Being able to self-manage your body is your RIGHT and your RESPONSIBILITY.   I’m a huge fan of preventing things from getting worse (hence, pre-covery), all the while making improvements along the way.  I think this notion of self-management and injury prevention is undervalued in the health and fitness industry because…

EVERYONE IS SO OBSESSED WITH LOSING WEIGHT….THEY’VE LOST SIGHT OF THE VALUE OF A FULLY FUNCTIONING BODY.  

Imagine being able to train at the gym, walk to the park with your kids or grand-kids, and carry heavy bags of groceries from the car pain-free?  Imagine seeing a photo of yourself and thinking “wow, I look great!”   A strong, healthy body is much more valuable than a weak frame with lower back pain that weighs 5 pounds less.   Don’t you agree ?  I’m tired of everyone complaining of their hip pain, or their stiff shoulders.  Let’s get on top of it and help you spend your energy on the things you love!

BALANCED POSTURE IS ABOUT ATTAINING A MORE BALANCED PHYSIQUE TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE, FUNCTION, AND EVERYDAY MOVEMENT.

During my experience with hundreds of clients and presenting to numerous corporate offices, posture is a common theme that always emerges.  It really is a question of the chicken or the egg, what came first ?  Do we have bad posture because of our sore neck?  Or do we have a sore neck because of our bad posture?  Is your knee sore because you have bad posture?  Or is your posture so bad because your knee hurts ?  Generally speaking, our bodies have a lifetime of moving, sitting, walking, playing sports, getting injured and other traumas to deal with. We aren’t 100% balanced, nor will we ever be 100% balanced. My goal is to help people minimize their imbalances and move towards a more functionally efficient body.  The good news is that THIS IS POSSIBLE.

IT COMES DOWN TO KNOWING WHY YOUR BODY IS IN ITS CURRENT STATE,  AND WHAT YOU CAN DO TO IMPROVE IT.

Balanced Posture Online is not a quick fix, fad diet, 8-minute workout type of resource.  It is about creating a healthier lifestyle, improving your training technique, and achieving sustainable results.  Balanced Posture Online represents creating a balance in the way your muscles contract, the way they relax, and how your body moves through everyday life.  My aim is to help people identify what their limitations might be, and how they can use new techniques to increase flexibility to tight muscles, improve range of motion in restricted movements, and gain strength to their weak areas.  A lot of people already train hard and have good habits, but there are so many more things they can implement to fulfill their goals.  By creating a balanced posture, you will notice a positive change in your function and physique.  Your movements should feel easier with less energy wasted on poor biomechanics.

TO LIVE A HEALTHY BALANCED LIFE TAKES AWARENESS AND THE MOTIVATION TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.  SO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
