Testimonials

clients – private training and programming

“Training with Jo allowed me to recover and build back my strength and fitness after suffering chronic neck and shoulder pain that impeded my movement for almost 12 months. After training with Jo regularly for a few months, I was pain-free and back to jogging, lifting and enjoying exercise and movement again.  Jo’s approach is very thorough and considered, and she always made sure I was progressing towards my goals and enjoying my workouts.”

“My name is Robert and I am a partner at the law firm Ashurst- I am 56 years old.  Jo was my personal trainer for 4 years in Melbourne prior to her move to Perth in March 2016.  A lot of fun was had and some great results were achieved . I lost weight and maintained a healthy body weight; I improved my fitness levels and strength; I lowered my blood pressure and greatly improved my blood profile. I was very sad to see Jo leave Melbourne, but I have been left with some valuable tools to work with.  A fantastic trainer!”

“I started my PT sessions with Jo after an ankle fusion operation. Initially, our focus was rehabilitation and we worked extensively on balance, strength and corrective exercises. I was very impressed with how quickly I was able to achieve my goals under Jo’s guidance and extend those goals beyond just rehabilitation.  I have never had a trainer who has Jo’s attention to detail and knowledge of individual needs. I am definitely stronger, have better posture and am much more physically aware after my time with Jo. And she’s great fun!”

“I first met Joanna in Vancouver in June 2011.  I was hired to take over her client load before she departed to live overseas.  I am a physiotherapist but wasn’t licensed to practice in Canada.  However,  I had my Personal Training certificate and took the role at a multidisciplinary clinic and training facility where Jo was currently working.  Coming from a physiotherapy background,  I was extremely impressed at how well she had trained each and every client.  Each one of Jo’s clients had excellent technique, was extremely clear of their training goals, and most importantly, had a smart training program that was adapted for their individual needs and injuries. On top of all this, they all absolutely loved Jo!  I had to work very hard to make sure I lived up to her standards and their expectations.  As luck would have it, years later Jo and I have found each other once again in the same city… but across hemispheres in Australia.”

“I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2014, 9 months after breaking my wrist and 2 weeks before my 53rd birthday. I thought I was way too young to be faced with this news and along with a referral to an endocrinologist, my doctor suggested it would help if I worked on improving my overall body strength to toughen up my muscles to support my ageing and fragile bones. I frantically searched the internet for a personal trainer who had more than just an interest in helping people lose weight and keep fit. My criteria was to find someone who had a professional goal and passion for helping people overcome the effects of injuries, build body strength and improve posture. It wasn’t easy, but I was lucky enough to find Jo and had my first session a week before Christmas 2014.  Throughout my training, Jo was always inspirational and encouraging. Every session was structured differently, which kept it interesting and every exercise was focused on my individual needs with a full explanation from Jo of the intended benefits. It was clear to me that Jo cared in my personal progress and I gradually began to feel my core strength and posture improve to the point where I could move more freely without experiencing any muscular pain. It was a sad day when Melbourne lost Jo to the West in March 2016, but I will always be grateful for the benefits I gained from the programs I learnt with Jo.. but the bar has now been set extremely high for my next PT!”

Corporate Presentations and seminars/workshops

“I asked Jo and the Balanced Posture team to organise a workshop for my team at CBA. We spend a lot of time sitting at desks in front of computer screens and I wanted some ideas for simple stretching and posture exercises we could do in the workplace.  With no fuss, limited space and only the bare minimum of equipment, Jo took us through an hour of activity that left everyone feeling noticeably lighter and moving more freely.  She showed us exercises that we can re-use again and again. We will definitely get Jo back in the future.”

– Sam S., Commonwealth Bank of Australia

“Joanna has provided informative, practical and interactive sessions for our staff.  She is very knowledgeable and energetic in her approach to these sessions and I have always received great feedback with regard to the content and enjoyment generally from the participants.”

– C.K., Russell Kennedy Lawyers Melbourne

“Joanna did a posture presentation at our company, Gadens Lawyers – Melbourne, in September 2015.  The presentation covered lots of angles, from our daily sitting habits to how to do remedy with stretches while in the office.  The practical examples during the presentation were an eye opener on how simple and easy posture exercises were to do whilst working.  I had upper back pain every now and then which really annoyed me.  I have been doing the new exercises and I’ve had no complaints with my upper back since then.  Thanks Joanna”

– J.K., Gadens Lawyers, Melbourne

“During our Health & Wellbeing Week at Spiire, Joanna Zervas, Exercise Physiologist, presented an excellent presentation on the importance of Posture, with great tips on looking after ourselves”
